Water Rescue Training 2016

Mon, September 26, 2016 | Lakes and Parks

The Bella Vista lake rangers, grounds maintenance staff, and fisheries & lake ecology staff participated in water rescue training organized and put on by the Bella Vista Fire and Rescue Department.  The two hour training covered proper and safe approach to struggling and unresponsive victims.  Immobilization techniques and proper loading onto a boat were also covered during the training.  Our ranger boats are always on hand at each lake, so the POA has entered an agreement with the City to allow rescue personnel the use our boats in times of emergency.  This was a great opportunity for the water rescue team to work with the boat that will be on hand specifically in loading rescued victims.  This should streamline the process and reduce the response time in the event of a future emergency.
