Evaluation of Recommendations from
Southeastern Pond Management

Bella Vista is committed to maintaining healthy, sustainable lakes through professional fisheries management, ongoing lake ecology programs, and water-quality monitoring.

As part of this ongoing effort,ย Southeastern Pond Management (SEP) was contracted to provide a third-party perspective on Bella Vista Fisheries.ย SEP Staff collected a representative sample of the fish community through electrofishing to assess the balance between predator and prey species and evaluate the fisheryโ€™s overall condition.

This professional fisheries assessment complements the year-round work of Bella Vista POAโ€™s own fisheries professionals. Through routine fish sampling, water quality monitoring, and comprehensive analysis, POA staff track the physical, chemical, and biological conditions of Bella Vistaโ€™s lakes. This information helps identify changes in lake health, evaluate water-quality conditions, support fisheries and habitat management, and guide long-term management decisions.

The management strategies suggested by SEP align nearly perfectly with the long-standing management strategies used by POA fisheries staff. This valuable positive affirmation, as well as tremendous support from the POA Board, has allowed POA fisheries staff the opportunity to increase efforts in improving Bella Vistaโ€™s fisheries.

Together, fisheries assessments, lake ecology programs, and laboratory testing provide a more complete picture of the health of Bella Vistaโ€™s lakes. This science-based approach helps protect these valuable natural resources while supporting healthy fisheries and enjoyable recreational opportunities for the Bella Vista community.
