State To Offer Free Fishing Weekend

The state of Arkansas will offer a free fishing weekend from noon Friday, June 10 to midnight Sunday, June 12.

The annual event gives people the opportunity to fish Arkansas lakes without having to obtain fishing licenses or trout permits. However, regulations for Arkansas waters apply, and daily limits, slots limits and length limits must be observed.

To utilize any of the Property Owners Association’s seven lakes, one must be a Bella Vista Village property owner, or the guest of a member. Additionally, members must have a current POA-issued photo identification card or present a paper membership card and pay the guest lake use fee, and guests must have a current guest card and pay the lake use fee, unless accompanied by a member with a current POA-issued photo identification card.

The Loch Lomond Marina, 103 Marina Drive, offers daily boat slips, gas and bait sales, pontoon, kayak and fishing boat rentals, guide service and information about what’s biting and where on Bella Vista Village’s lakes. The marina is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, beginning June 1. For more information, call 855-8182.

Also, the C.B. Craig State Fish Hatchery, 977 West Fish Hatchery Road in Centerton, will host a Kids’ Fishing Day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 11.

The pond will be stocked with catchable-size fish for children 12 and younger. Each child is allowed one rod or pole. Children should bring fishing tackle and bait. Limit of three fish per child.
