Scotsdale Golf Course & Pub Grand Opening – a Huge Success

Fri, October 7, 2016 | Golf, POA News

Nearly 250 Members and their Guests were greeted with a Scottish Bagpiper (Kenton R. Adler) setting the tone for this traditional, Scottish-links course Grand Opening.

Attendees gathered and conversed along Scotdale’s greens, inside the immaculate new Scotsdale Pub, and on the balcony overlooking the course’s stunning grounds. The Grand Opening kicked off with a fantastic performance from the Bentonville High School Chamber Choir, raising money for their June 2017 trip to Scotland and England.

The first tee ceremony featured an opening speech from Tom Judson (POA General Manager), Phillip Wright (Director of Golf Operations) and Keith Ihms, (Director of Golf Maintenance) followed by Golf Architect, David Whelchel (of the American Society of Golf Course Architects), displaying his playing skills along with Keepers of the Greens’ replicas of 1860 clubs and authentic, regripped 1915 clubs.  During the festivities Bella Vista’s own Lads and Lassies set up an informational booth and the POA provided guests with an opportunity to win several framed Scottish tee flags.

Scotdale’s opening ceremony was a testament to the Bella Vista Property Owner Association’s rejuvenation plan and promise for the future.  As quoted during the first tee ceremony, Arnold Palmer once said, “The road to success is always under construction.”  Based on Scotdale’s opening day, many Members cannot wait to see what the future of the course – and the rest of Bella Vista’s renovations – will bring to our community.
