It’s hard to believe that summer is nearly over! It’s been a great summer for literally hundreds of area youth involved in camps and recreational activities offered by the Bella Vista POA. Hundreds of children have participated in recreational activities offered by the Bella Vista POA. Youth have enjoyed swim lessons at our outdoor pools, Bella Vista Swim Team, tennis camps at Kingsdale Tennis Center and Camp Bella Vista at Riordan Hall and Kingsdale Pool. There are a few camp opportunities remaining for your children and grandchildren to participate in during the last few weeks of summer.
The Bella Vista Swim Team “Stingrays” final session of the summer is currently in progress. Ninety children age 5 to 18 are participating in swim team during this three-week session. Kingsdale Pool hosts the team weekday mornings from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m.
Camp Bella Vista, for children ages 7 to 12 is held at Riordan Hall and Kingsdale Pool on Mondays from Noon until 4 p.m., Wednesdays and Fridays 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Camp Bella Vista ends for this summer Friday, July 29. A unique opportunity in Bella Vista is for tiny tots (children age 3 to 6) to participate in Kingsdale Tennis’ Tiny Tots program. This tennis program includes coordination games, relay races, movement exercises, tennis etiquette and technique. USPTA Apprentice Professional, Alicia Rodgers will coordinate and be lead instructor for this fun and high-energy program for young tennis players. Tiny Tots has been scheduled Wednesday afternoons beginning at 4 p.m. and Saturday mornings beginning at 10 a.m., Aug. 10 through Sept. 3. The cost is just $15 for your child to participate one day per week for the four-week session, or $30 to participate in both days each week. Look for additional Tiny Tot tennis program sessions to be scheduled throughout the fall and winter months, as well.
Outdoor pool water exercise classes will continue at Kingsdale Pool, 1 Riordan Dr., through the month of August. Classes are held Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10 a.m. and Tuesday and Thursday at 9 a.m. Evening water exercise classes will also continue through the month of August Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 until 6:15 p.m. Individual class and multiple class punch cards are available for purchase at Riordan Hall. Just a reminder that following the month of August and throughout the year, indoor pool water fitness classes are available at Branchwood Recreation Center, 222 Glasgow Road in Bella Vista. As summer winds down, so do the hours of operation at Metfield Pool. Reduced hours of operation will begin Monday, Aug. 15. The pool will be open Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. through Sunday, Sept. 4. Pool hours on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 5, will be 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Metfield Pool will close for the season Monday, Sept. 5, 2016. The POA is forced to reduce the hours at the pool when school resumes due to the lack of available staff. The outdoor pool at Kingsdale will remain open daily Monday through Sunday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Kingsdale Pool will close for the season Sunday, Sept. 11.
