Chair Chat

Summer is winding down, temperatures are dropping and soon the leaves in our Village will begin to display fall colors. The end of summer brings with it the beginning of a new school year.

There is nothing more exciting for parents and grandparents than to witness their little ones returning to school, the new clothes they wear, and the anticipation of new friendships. These children are our future and our legacy.

With the start of school comes increased traffic. Please take a little extra time to arrive at your destination and be mindful of school zones and school bus activity when driving. Keep our kids safe!

Speaking of our youth, last month I announced a new ad hoc committee to be made up of younger resident members to help facilitate interaction between our diverse age group populations. I am pleased to introduce the chair of that committee, Andrew Grover. Andrew has been a resident of Bella Vista for the past nine years, he and his wife have four children. Andrew leads an advising team for Pinnacle Foods and is active in his church. Look for future news concerning this new committee!

While our outdoor pools will be closing soon, the cooler weather gives us all an opportunity to take advantage of our fantastic amenities. My neighbor, Mike Messerli – “the fish whisperer,” tells me the fishing is better in cool weather. I see the tennis courts are popping with players and golf tee times can be made in the afternoon without much trouble. Our trails and parks are very busy during the weekends, PLEASE help us maintain their beauty, remove trash and use provided restrooms!

The lakes are also busy with early evening cruises. Did you know that members can rent a boat at Loch Lomand Marina?   What a great way to get couples together for an enjoyable evening of socializing!

The budget process begins for your association in the weeks ahead. Did you know all budget and monthly financial information is available to you on the POA website? Tommy Bailey and his team will be “number crunching” in an effort to analyze how best to capitalize POA assets. Our association’s spending and financial growth is critical, so please share your ideas on these subjects with any of your Board members.

Did you know that August 21st is National Senior Citizens Day? To all of our Senior Citizens, we salute what you bring to our community and what you have done to make all of our lives better. I feel fortunate to call many Seniors my friends, and often call on them for advice. It is great to have their wisdom and experience as a resource! Thank You Seniors!
