THE BEST CITIES FOR BIKES
In 2020, PeopleForBikes ranked Bella Vista in the top 20 for America’s Best Places For Bikes. Three cities in Northwest Arkansas made the Top 20 list.
The 2020 City Ratings evaluated 567 cities across the U.S., combining data from publicly available information, community survey results and the Bicycle Network Analysis to find America’s best places for bikes and provide city leaders with useful information on how they can make them even better.
Bella Vista was recently ranked one of America’s Top 10 Best Healthy Places To Retire by U.S. News & World Report, and one of the Top 25 best places for affordable homes by CNNMoney.com and Money Magazine.
Bentonville High (one of two school districts for Bella Vista) was ranked third-best in the state and No. 580 in the nation on U.S. News & World Report’s most recent ranking of high schools.
U.S. News and World Report put the Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers Metropolitan Statistical Area at No. 3 on its 2016 list, No. 5 on its 2017 list of “Best Places to Live.” and No. 4 on its 2019 list of “Best Places to Live.”
Money Magazine listed Bella Vista as one the Top 25 best places in the nation to retire (12th overall).
Inc. Magazine ranked Northwest Arkansas as the 13th (out of 393 areas surveyed) best metropolitan area overall for doing business.
Bentonville High School has been named one of the Top 1000 High Schools by Newsweek Magazine the last two years.
Bentonville’s 21c Museum Hotel was named to the top 10 Hottest New Hotels in the World by TripAdvisor.
Outside Magazine in March 2016 ranked Bentonville on its list of “28 Best Trips of 2016,” noting the region’s growing interest in and places for mountain biking.

Finance 101 ranked Arkansas “The Best State To Retire In” and listed Bella Vista as the Best City. “Quite a low cost of living in the Natural State, as well as average health costs being the third lowest for retired couples. Arkansas is known for its wildlife, hot springs, mountains, and rivers — hence the name the “Natural State.””
MoneyWise listed Bella Vista as the No. 13 city that is a “Frugal and Friendly Place to Retire in the U.S.” in 2018. The rankings are based off of essential requirements for a great retirement: cities that offer great weather, a fair cost of living, and high quality of healthcare.
Researchers at Chapman University’s Center for Demographics and Policy in California determined in a report that Northwest Arkansas ranked No. 1 in the nation in family friendliness. The report, called “Building Cities for People” and made public in January 2016, measured metropolitan areas in such categories as commute times, housing costs, income and migration.
New Geography in 2014 put Northwest Arkansas as No. 10 in its list of “Best Cities for Job Growth” for medium-sized cities. Rankings are based on recent growth trends, mid-term growth and long-term growth, momentum, and current year growth.
