Rifle and Pistol Range

The rifle and pistol range is open daily. An attendant is on site Friday, Saturday and on Sundays after 12 p.m., shooters may go directly to the range during these times. On Monday thru Thursday, as well as Sunday before 12 p.m., a key for the gate may be checked out at the Branchwood Recreation Center. The 100-yard rifle range features six covered shooting benches, while the 25-yard pistol range offers covered shooting positions and a covered waiting area at the 50-yard mark. Shooting at moving targets is prohibited. Only POA members may obtain a key for the gun range gates at the Branchwood Recreation Center.

Members will be required to leave their POA photo ID or paper membership cards at the center until they return with the key. In addition, each person will be required to sign an agreement and a release of liability in order to use the gun range. There is a 2 hour and 30 minute time limit on range use.  Members that do not return keys are subject to a fine. Members are asked to lock the gate after entering or exiting the range area when the Range Master is not present. All users are required to bring their own firearms as well as the required ammunition.

 

Trap and Skeet Range

The trap and skeet range, open on Wednesdays and Saturdays, is manned by a Range Master. The Highlands Gun Range has three trap fields and two skeet fields with overlay. Members and non-members are required to bring their own guns and ammunition; targets are provided for a fee through an electronic management system. No outside targets may be used on the trap and skeet ranges.

  • Those 17 and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  • All rifle and pistol range non-members must be accompanied by a member.
  • Keys are not issued to non-members.
  • Those 16 and older pay range fees; 15 and younger shoot for free at the rifle and pistol range.
  • Fee payment receipts are required for access into rifle and pistol range shooting area.
  • Members and non-members can use one target position per key at the rifle and pistol range if others are waiting.
  • All users and observers are required to follow all posted rules and Range Master instructions at all times, failure to comply will result in the loss of range privileges.
